Is why he put so much into his first game. He should know better from a business standpoint. That's just way too much financial and time invested for something that could have easily flopped, and he'd have nothing to fall back on.
Giving up jobs to go into debt for something you won't see returns on for years (since that's how long he was working on it apparently) is not smart at all if you don't have some sort of backup plan.

The only problem was that they had too many bugs. The gameplay and story were pretty fun/good though.
This game is going to be a lot more love it/hate it than AR, which was almost universally accepted as mediocre.

Don't release anything on any platform before you understand exactly what you get from it. THAT IS RULE NUMBER 1!
They changed it in anticipation of XNA community games too, which is likely what he'd release future games on. That has low restrictions, and up to 70% of the profit from sales.
First and foremost, that is not a "scan" that is a crappy picture. (read: someone scan plz)
second, I think the reviews will be all over the place. Just like the public opinion of the demo, I think a lot of reviewers will love the game and a lot will think it's nothing special.

The title was changed to say that. The only mention of blu-ray in the article is:
"reflected significant and growing contributions from strong Blu-ray high-definition disc sales"

Xbox primetime, netflix integration, avatars, and XNA community games. All on top of the large and increasing amount of content they already have.

Most publishers have their own departments/teams dedicated solely to market trends. Things like VGChartz and NPD are more important for investors than anyone else.
Their two completely different genres with two completely different target audiences (or at least target desires by the audience).
NPD is an estimate too. It just happens to be a better US(not global) estimate than VGChartz.
VGChartz is getting better with time tho. To it's credit, it's the only one that does weekly updates, which is nice and a missed opportunity for NPD.
still take it with a grain of salt tho. I'd only use it for past data, as that's usually spot on.
